THE SHOESTRING THRIFT SHOP
The Shop has seasonal clothing and some household items for the family. Donations are being accepted during business hours Weds thru Sat 11am to 3pm. Stop on by and check us out!!!
Do you have 4 hours a month to spare once a month? Come volunteer at the shop --we need fun, friendly, faces to keep this mission thriving. Please contact Selina Lufkin at 745-7208 or stop on by and fill out a form!! Lots of fun with a great bunch of people.
The Shoestring Thrift Shop was founded in 2001 and started out in an old trailer in Bradley, Maine. We were open only 8 hours a week with the help of 12 or more volunteers (no bathroom then). In 2008 we found a new home in Brewer at 10 Brimmer Street and extended our hours to 24 hours a week (Wed thru Sat) with the help of about 20 volunteers. Recently we became an incorporated non-profit organization and have acquired the building from the church next door. We just changed our hours to Wed thru Sat 10am to 3pm to hopefully better serve our customers. We receive donations from many sources and are totally run by volunteers. More God moments come from this wonderful mission. This year we will give away (3) $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors continuing their education at Old Town, John Bapst and Brewer High Schools. We also give $10 vouchers to churches, schools, homeless shelter, and other agencies in the area to give away to needy families to come and shop. WE are very blessed again and again!
